Visiting the British Library at St Pancras
The British Library is the national library of the United Kingdom
and one of the world's greatest libraries. Our magnificent building
at St Pancras, London NW1, is a vibrant public space open seven
days a week.
Wednesday 29 October
The public galleries will close an hour early, at 17.00, to allow
for preparations ahead of an event connected with the ‘Taking
Liberties’ exhibition (opens Friday)
Things to see and do
To consult books in the Reading Rooms you must have a Reader Pass.
But even if you don't have a Pass, there are many reasons to visit:
Bag searches
Last year we introduced compulsory bag searches at the main St Pancras entrance to St Pancras for all visitors entering the building. A search only takes a few seconds and helps to ensure your security.
